Registration for both the Army Ten Miler and Marine Corps Marathon opens today

Registration for the 25th Army Ten-Miler opens tomorrow, April 1st. This year, in honor of the 25th anniversary, the field has been increased to 30,000 runners. Last year's race filled up in 21 days; race organizers expect this year's race to fill up by mid-May. Be sure to register early, you do not want to miss out on one of the best races DC has to offer. With the field size of the race increased, there will be some other changes that come along. The pre-race expo will be moved to the DC Armory to allow for more exhibitors and vendors, as well as longer hours for packet pick-up. The GEICO pasta dinner will move to a larger ballroom at the Gateway Crystal Marriott, allowing for an additional 300 seats. This year's race will be held October 4th, starting and finishing at the Pentagon. The atmosphere at the start is truly electric with the exciting opening ceremonies which include Blackhawk flyovers and the Golden Knights parachute team. This is a race that cannot be missed! Registration for the Marine Corps Marathon opens Wednesday, April 1st at 12:00 PM. The field is limited to 30,000 runners, which may lead you to believe you have plenty of time to register. But, Marine Corps is one of this area's premier running events and registration closes out very quickly. The marathon not for you? There is also a 10K race that will start just minutes after the marathon. Runners will eventually meet up with the marathon course and cross the finish line at the Marine Corps War Memorial. There is also the Healthy Kids Fun Run for kids aged 6-13 held the day before the race. Registration for both the 10K and Kids Run opens May 13th. The Marine Corps Marathon will be held October 25, 2009. You can register at the race website.
