Killebrew hit 573 home runs, 11th best on the career list, in 22 major league seasons. He played in 13 All-Star Games. He had announced in December that he had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Last week, Killebrew announced that doctors had deemed his cancer incurable and he would no longer fight it. Baseball fans are mourning a legend.
