LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Almost six years ago at the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo, Nintendo unveiled what would eventually become known as the Wii. But the Japanese gaming giant didn't show off the new console's distinctive motion-sensing capabilities until later that year at the Tokyo Game Show. Here's a demo of an immersive motion-controlled Disneyland simulator shown at this year's E3: using a Kinect, players can run around Disneyland, ride the rides, and even hug Mickey (which is a total show-stealer). A tweet from Xbox marketing manager Cindy Walker confirmed that the event would include "news" from the Guildford developer. It is unknown at present whether Molyneux himself will appear, but the former Bullfrog man did take to the stage for the now-infamous Milo and Kate demo at E3 2009. The highly ambitious Kinect title has since been cancelled, with some elements of its technology apparently folded into as-yet unannounced future games. Read more... Experience an engaging war drama spanning real-world locations across the globe (3:19) This year's E3, which commences tomorrow, is expected to draw around 45,000 attendees, claims organiser the Entertainment Software Association. "We are going to look to replicate the success of the past two years," ESA boss Michael Gallagher told VentureBeat, "which means an attendance figure right around 45,000 through turnstiles." This was, he claimed, because, "we are very focused on the quality of the experience of E3 as opposed to the quantity of the experience." Read more... A trailer for the game A trailer for the game With Microsoft's E3 press conference set to begin in just a few short hours, the IBTimes takes a look at the last minute updates and rumours surrounding the company's 2011 line-up. Microsoft's impending pre-E3 conference may feature the unveiling of a television streaming service, according to press rumours. 'Xbox LIVE Diamond' is alleged to be the name of a new IPTV service for the US, with whispers also suggesting it would entail a subscription fee. Claimed an unnamed source to WinRumours,  "Microsoft is currently in last minute negotiations to secure the necessary agreements in time. Apple is in a similar position, speaking to several media groups ahead of its iCloud announcement on Monday." Read more... It's going to be a busy week in geek - Steve Jobs is set to take the stage for the WWDC keynote today, which will bring new info on iCloud, iOS 5, and OSX Lion, while Microsoft and Sony kick off this year's E3 expo, which runs all week long. Microsoft will unveil three new games that specifically use its console's Kinect device — the first of which will literally be a trip to Disneyland — tomorrow at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. The game will let players take a virtual tour of a carbon copy of Disneyland, a popular theme park in California that features Disney characters like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. Microsoft has rebuilt the whole experience of visiting the Magic Kingdom piece for piece for the next game, except for one small difference — players can fly through Disneyland instead of walking. It's one of the new ways players can interact with games since the advent of motion-controlled gaming. Nintendo's Wii was the first console to popularize motion-controlled gaming by giving players a remote-and-nunchuk combination to control games like The Legend of Zelda. It was a risky move, but the gambit proved successful in making motion-controlled gaming more appealing to more mainstream audiences because it was much more immersive than using typical plastic controllers. Microsoft is pulling out all the stops to make sure the Kinect is as appealing as possible to just about every audience. The Wii was successful ... LucasArts and developer Terminal Reality will show the game at E3, and here's your first glimpse. Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive video of the game's E3 trailer, and it shows off a range of Kinect-enabled Star Wars action set in Episodes I-III, including Force attacks, lightsaber action (naturally), podracing, fighter combat, and even Rancor stomping (whatever that is). EW's report even says that some form of voice-commands is enabled. Although the game's main Jedi Destiny mode encompasses Episodes I-III, players will get to visit locations from the original trilogy such as Bespin. Kinect Star Wars also includes co-op play, but we likely won't have details on that until the start of E3. (Please visit the site to view this media) Microsoft's Xbox 360 has passed 55 million units sold worldwide, according to the company. The numbers were announced in the run up to E3 2011, with the company set to shed light on new titles, services and technology in LA this week.
