Noting that "air pollution kills," the American Lung Association released its annual list of the most and least polluted U.S. cities. Bakersfield, Calif., has the worst, Honolulu and Santa Fe the best air. (John) Today, President Obama finally released his "long-form," or official, birth certificate. There has never been any doubt about the fact that Obama was born in Honolulu. The local newspapers reported it; case closed. Therefore, he is a natural-born American citizen and is eligible for the presidency. The mystery has always been, why was Obama so reluctant to release his long- form birth certificate? There have been two possible explanations: 1) the birth certificate contains some embarrassing information that Obama would prefer not to make public; or 2) he thought the "birther" controversy was hurting Republicans, and therefore wanted to keep it going. Here is the birth certificate, as posted on the White House web site; click to enlarge: I don't see anything embarrassing about it. That suggests that Obama was keeping it out of sight on the theory that it was a distraction to Republicans that made some of them look bad with independents. That hypothesis is consistent with the timing of the release of the birth certificate: polls in recent weeks have shown that the "issue" was apparently hurting Obama, as astonishingly large numbers of Americans told pollsters that they doubted whether Obama was born in ... It has long been the object of all kinds of speculation, and finally today President Barack Obama's birth certificate was released. The Certificate of Live Birth from Hawaii confirms that Obama was indeed born at 7:24 pm on August 4th, 1961 in Honolulu, putting to rest the questions of his citizenship. White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer told press, "The president was struck by how this was crowding out the debate. It became an issue that transcended [conspiracy theorists]." He added, "The president decided to do this...because this was a sideshow that's distracting from significant issues." The South Coast Air Basin held on to the number one spot for ozone pollution, a key component of smog, in the latest air-quality report card from the American Lung Assocation. And Orange County got 'F' grades for ozone as well as short spikes of particle pollution, the tiny bits of soot and other pollutants [...] Air pollution: L.A.-O.C. region still no. 1 is a post from: OC Science The evidence that a U.S. future president, Barack Hussein Obama, was born in a Honolulu hospital in 1961 is overwhelming, CNN reported Tuesday. In addition to Obama's birth certificate and birth announcements in both Honolulu newspapers, there is testimony from Hawaii Gov.... This cracked me up. In yet another investigation into where Obama was born, CNN discovers that he is, in fact, an American citizen. But the story also included this gem: Rick Smethurst, a 2008 John McCain voter who now lives in Obama's childhood home in Hawaii, counts himself among the doubters. He said he wants [...] (_Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center_) Bernard Chang, M.D., a member of the Department of Neurology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and assistant professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School, received the Dreifuss-Penry Epilepsy Award at the 63rd Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Neurology, held recently in Honolulu, Hawaii. Conservatives have claimed for a long time that Rush Limbaugh isn't a racist, that this image of the conservative thought leader is an invention of the so- called "liberal media." This list exposes that for the lie that it is. HONOLULU (MedPage Today) -- The buzz surrounding an investigational agent for multiple sclerosis and the pitfalls of multinational drug trials were two of the top stories out of this year's American Academy of Neurology meeting here, as MedPage Today's reporters on the scene discuss in this exclusive Infocus video. HONOLULU (MedPage Today) -- Acute necrotizing encephalopathy -- long thought to be a condition that strikes only Asian children -- in fact can strike at any age and any ethnicity, a researcher said here. The simmering issue of whether a warmer world brews more-destructive hurricanes is a powerful one, not just for coastal interests but for every U.S. taxpayer from Philadelphia to Honolulu.
