MONACO — Fernando Alonso gave Ferrari another boost when he posted the fastest time in Saturday's third practice session at the Monaco Grand Prix, with championship leader Sebastian Vettel fourth best for Red Bull. Ferrari has been lagging behind Red Bull all season, but this race weekend is the first time it has been faster in practice. Two-time former F1 champion Alonso was quicker than Vettel in Thursday's second practice, and the Spaniard again made the most of the supersoft optional tires to record a best lap time of 1 minute, 14.433 seconds in the third practice. The 30-year-old E! reality star showed off her multi-million dollar sparkler as she and her New Jersey Nets basketball playing fiance checked out the sights at the annual Amber Fashion Show. Tweeting about the overseas excursion, Kim excitedly tweeted, "Backstage at the Matthew Williamson fashion show! He is amaze! Prince Albert & Charlene here too! About 2 go on stage! I always get nervous" And while Kim and Kris have confirmed their plans to wed this summer, Miss Kardashian's brother Robert isn't 100% sure that the walk down the aisle will take place. Talking with The Hollywood 5, Rob said, "I just don't feel confident because Kim has always been so… like, she's how old? She's just been through a lot of relationships, she just always gets hurt or [doesn't] find the right dude, but, you know, Kris is actually a really good dude." Also chatting about the moment he learned of his sister's nuptial plans, the 24-year-old told, "We were having, like, a family dinner, and we didn't know what ... We knew right when we exclusively revealed the BlackBerry Monaco and Monza back in January that the devices would likely shed the "Storm" moniker, and now it's looking even more likely. BlackBerry enthusiast blog N4BB cites multiple sources in suggesting that RIM may have finally landed on a new brand for the full touchscreen smartphone it is preparing to launch later this year: "Volt." The report is unsure at best however, suggesting that RIM might instead choose to slap the Torch brand on the Monaco 9850 and Monza 9860. We took a hands-on look at the BlackBerry Monaco/Monza — which features a 3.7-inch touchscreen, a 1.2GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera and NFC — back in March. Move made to counter Ferrari's shadow tactics Research in Motion's next attempt at an entirely touchscreen smartphone, which may end up being called the BlackBerry Touch, looks to finally make us forget about its failed BlackBerry Storm series, judging from Boy Genius Report's early hands-on with the phone. I'm sure that's what RIM wants. The Storm was widely criticized for its clunky SurePress feature, which tried to replicate the sensation of physical buttons by having the screen physically move when users interacted with the touchscreen. It was an interesting idea, but in practice it led to the Storm being a bear to type on. The BlackBerry Touch avoids the mess of SurePress altogether, and it's also faster and thinner to boot. BGR says that the Touch is currently going by the code names Monaco (for the Verizon Wirless version) and Monza (for the global version). It will run BlackBerry OS 6.1, and it will also require a BlackBerry ID to login. BGR speculates that it may be a way to tie cloud services, including file and contact synchronization, to the Touch. Physically, it looks more attractive than any previous Storm phones — RIM may finally have a touchscreen competitor that can take on ... MONACO — Roger Federer has lost to seventh-seeded Jurgen Melzer of Austria 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters on Friday. _Tribune News Services_ MELBOURNE, Australia -- Maria Sharapova won for the first time at Melbourne Park since taking the 2008 Australian Open title, beating Thai veteran Tamarine Tanasugarn 6-1, 6-3 on Monday in the opening match on center court. Sharapova, the former top-ranked player who missed the 2009 Australian Open because of a shoulder injury and was ousted in the first round last year by fellow Russian Maria Kirilenko, struggled with her serve and was inconsistent in the second set. After losing the opening service game at love, Sharapova won seven straight games to take a 6-1, 1-0 lead. The 33-year-old Tamarine, clearly not in peak physical condition, rallied and had a game point on serve for a 4-1 lead, but Sharapova broke back and regained momentum, winning the last five games. Even when she was winning, though, Sharapova had trouble finding range with her serve. She had 10 double-faults and five aces. Nerves had a role in that. "I definitely felt that in the beginning. I knew I had an early exit last year and didn't want that to happen this year," said Sharapova, who has the goal in Australia of "staying aggressive and little by ...
