USA TODAY's music staff offers a weekend tip sheet of sound recommendations spanning the media landscape. It's always a promising sign of an expended summer schedule whenever Pacific Amphitheatre tacks on shows that fall outside the annual OC Fair run -- even if this one is just another visit from perennial fairgrounds favorite "Weird Al" Yankovic. Not to pick on the parodist: he's nothing if not consistently entertaining live. You can [...] 'Weird Al' adds non-OC Fair date at Pacific is a post from: Soundcheck The 90s. Grunge. Dot coms. "If you went, 'Hey, here's the keys to a legendary rock band, we want you to drive it for a little while,' anybody in their right mind [would] go, 'Rock 'n' roll, man! This is great,'" he tells Spinner. "But when you start driving too fast, you realize, 'Holy s---, I can run out of gas if I'm pushing the pedal to the metal all the time.'" RATING: (EMPTY CHAIR) Pop No one is going to begrudge the surviving members of INXS for trying to make an honest living. They are experienced musicians, were once great songwriters, and have funny accents. But there... Thirteen years after the premature death of their frontman, Australian rockers INXS still have not settled on a full-fledged replacement.... INXS is starting to feel the pull to make some fresh music again -- and perhaps its first new studio album since "Switch" in 2005.
