TRIGGER WARNINGS: Authoritarian parenting, teenage sexuality, frank sexual language Introduction It's never easy to be a parent, and it's possibly now harder than ever before, with so much mainstream media battling over the right way to parent. Before I write... **Robert Pattinson,** who became famous for being a vampire in the "Twilight" series, began filming his new flick, "Cosmopolis" and his leading lady is the beautiful Sarah Gadon.... __**UPDATED:**_ Twilight _producer Summit Entertainment has signed an exclusive four-year output deal with HBO. It will cover the mini-major's movies released from January 2013 through the end of 2017. It will start when Summit's current output deal with Showtime ends. I hear Summit brass felt HBO would be a better outlet for their movies. Summit's four-year pact with Showtime, which features up to 42 titles released from 2008 through 2012, including the blockbuster _Twilight Saga _and Oscar-winning_ The Hurt Locker_, was signed in December 2008. (Showtime will continue to run Summit movies through 2014.) It came shortly after the pay cable network lost its main movie suppliers, Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate, who went on to launch their own service, EPIX, and was designed to infuse fresh theatricals into Showtime's lineup. While the network had been focusing on original programming for the past few years, successfully growing its series stable, theatrical movies are considered an important piece of the mix for pay cable channels. Summit's departure leaves DreamWorks and The Weinstein Co. as Showtime's biggest movie partners. (The network has the rights to Disney-distributed DreamWorks releases from 2010-15.) Showtime also has deals with Miramax and CBS corporate sibling ... Actors Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart fought back tears as filming wrapped on the final Twilight movie Breaking Dawn - Part 2, because the castmates had begun to feel like family.Lautner, who plays a werewolf in the hit vampire film series,... DC Comics' venerable speculative series Strange Adventures is back from the beyond. The 80-page Strange Adventures No. 1, released Wednesday by the publisher's mature Vertigo imprint, collects eight surreal sci-fi shorties from established writers like Paul Cornell, Jeff Lemire and Peter Milligan, artists like Denys Cowan and Paul Pope (above), as well as some promising newcomers. Check [...] The Emmett Cullen depicter of the 'Twilight's Saga' series reportedly declines the offer to play a cameo in the music video and share a steamy scene with Britney Spears. Closing out the week with a final television appearance, Jennifer Lawrence was spotted leaving the London Hotel in New York City en route to NBC Studios on Friday afternoon (May 20). The 20-year-old actress continued to show off her newly-darkened brunette locks as she popped into "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" to promote "X-Men: First Class" - which hits theaters on June 3rd. During the candid interview with Fallon, Miss Lawrence spoke about a number of topics including her family's iPhone game, her new hair color and the soon-to- be-released comic book based film. Jennifer's also in the midst of delving into her much talked about role as Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games" - with the film being compared to the blockbuster "Twilight" franchise thanks to both book series having amassed legions of fans. Having visited with MTV over the past week, as well, Lawrence was asked if she's happened to be in touch with "Twilight" leading lady Kristen Stewart to talk about their similar endeavors. Taken a little off guard by the comparison question, the "Winter's Bone" star then replied, "No, I haven't spoken to her. I don't really know what we'd say... ... As a number of local artists have increasingly come to demonstrate, nature has a way of creeping unbidden into built environments—whether through decay, infestation or fire. The latest exploration of nature's sometimes violent intersections with the man-made comes from painter Patrick Willett, whose recent work goes on view today in the tiny Queen City Gallery in downtown's Market Arcade Building (617 Main St.). Willett's work, a series of recent watercolor-on-paper pieces, reflects his lifelong fascination with nature and man's place in relationship to it—that old theme of Homer, Melville and Burchfield and, lately and locally, J. M. Reed, Dennis Maher and Julian Montague among scads and scads of others. Willett brings a decidedly traditional approach to these considerations in his paintings of burning churches and telephone poles set against swirling twilight skies. "My work involves the healing and renewing aspects of nature as well as the awareness of place that we all share," Willett wrote in a statement about the show. "I believe we are molded by our surroundings to a great degree, which makes the act of landscape painting a somewhat autobiographical effort." The show remains on view through June 13. For more information, call ... KRISTEN Stewart thinks vampires are "sexy". The 21-year-old-actress plays Bella Swan in the Twilight: Saga movies and she can understand why her character would fall in love with blood-sucker Edward Cullen - who is portrayed by her real-life boyfriend Robert Pattinson in the film series. "Vampires are very sexy," Kristen said. "I think it's because [...] **EXCLUSIVE:** Now that 'Thor' opened strongly around the world, its star Chris Hemsworth is one hot Aussie hunk. He's just closed a deal for the good guy role opposite _Twilight Saga_ starlet Kristen Stewart as the Huntsman in _Snow White And The Huntsman_ which is Universal's version of the fairy tale. Newcomer Hemsworth and his good looks allowed for heavy PR to drum up appeal for _Thor_ among women with his shirtless clip a popular choice for talk shows with large female audiences. He's repped by IFA talent management  and ROAR management partner and co-founder William Ward who talent-spotted Chris during one of the manager's many scouting trips to Australia. Ward brought him to Los Angeles and really put him out there to casting directors and production executives. Chris read for the part of Thor but wasn't given a test because a casting director had nixed him early on. Chris' younger brother Liam (who's also a ROAR client) then tested for the role of Thor, but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige passed. Then, after a conversation with Ward ("You've got to reconsider Chris, he's your guy"), Feige decided to let Chris read again. And once Marvel put him on tape, it was "Oh my god". Hemsworth is in Joss Whedon's UA-orphaned _Cabin In ... Keeping on top of her physical fitness, Ashley Greene continued forth with her gym routine in Los Angeles, CA over the Mother's Day weekend. The "Twilight" hottie looked oh-so-fine in her workout gear as she strolled under the cloudy conditions for the day-beginning sweat session. Aside from her ever-so-popular "Twilight" series, Miss Greene stars as Michelle Burkham in the upcoming '80s flick "Skateland". Talking about the audition process for the gig, the Alice Cullen actress recently told MTV, "It was right before 'New Moon.' No one really knew who I was. We had done 'Twilight,' and I think maybe it had just come out. ... Actually, I feel like it came out while ['Skateland'] was filming. And, of course, I got the news of how big it was. No one really knew who I was at that point, so I was just a girl who was in this movie that was buzzed about. I really had to work for it." As for the differences between her "Skateland" character and "Twilight" role, Ashley dished, "I was really excited, because it was definitely a departure from Alice Cullen. I think it was two years ago, so ... Ashley Greene feels the end of 'The Twilight Saga' is like graduating "high school". The US actress - who plays Alice Cullen in the movie series, which is based on the books by Stephenie Meyer - said the end of the four-year franchise is going to... Vampire film The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, TV series House MD and rapper Eminem win four prizes each at the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles. A new attack is spreading its way across Facebook, targeting fans of the epic vampire series Twilight. The clickjacking scam demonstrates just how easy it is to spread malware socially--especially if the bait is a phenomenon like Twilight that has such a devoted fanbase. Online rental and streaming saw the DVD market plunge by 20% in the first quarter of this year It's been a huge source of Hollywood profit but the silvery, lucrative DVD could be consigned to the pages of a history book if plunging US sales continue for the rest of the year. Sales of new titles tumbled by nearly one fifth in the first three months of this year, a decline fuelled partly by a lack of hits and the timing of Easter – but also by the start of what appears to be an irreversible change in consumer habits. The sale of DVDs has been falling since 2007, but the Digital Entertainment Group (DEG) reported that physical sales collapsed 19% to $2.2bn (£1.3bn) in the first quarter, while high-street rental also plunged by 36% to $440m, in a period when Blockbuster was in Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Online downloads and streaming through services such as Netflix, by contrast, grew quickly, although not enough to avert a 10% decline in the total home entertainment market to $4.2bn. The industry was quick to offer its own excuses, focusing in particular on the late timing of Easter, and ... A series of studies of elderly animals by the American photographer Isa Leshko calls into question our attitudes to ageing Age discrimination in the media doesn't stop with humans. Our collective obsession with youth extends to the animal world. Considering how much of the internet is given over to the extreme cuteness of kittens, how often do you click on images of elderly cats or glaucomic dogs at the tail end of their lives? How many ad campaigns show us horses past their prime or birds in their twilight years? Not often, and probably none. Isa Leshko has set out to document old age in the animal kingdom with a series of beautiful photographs entitled _Elderly Animals_. Some of the subjects wear their age lightly. A 28-year-old Embden goose regards the camera with indifference and buries its beak in a stately expanse of feathers. Others seem more time-worn. With dimmed eyes and splayed legs, a 19-year-old Australian kelpie looks as weak and helpless as a newborn pup, while a wrinkled bronze turkey called Marino might have seen 100 years, not merely five. Leshko, who lives in Houston, Texas, started the series after a year spent caring ... Ashley Greene can see into the future as a character in the "Twilight" series, and now she's looking to the past with her new film, "Skateland," set during the 1980s. Sandra Hughes reports. If Rod Serling, the creator of the original "Twilight Zone'' TV series, were alive today, he would surely find grist in a high school senior's compulsive scans of electronic and other mail for signs of interest from a dozen colleges. CBS and Netflix have clinched a potentially lucrative two-year licensing deal for the latter company to stream two classic sci-fi series: "Star Trek" (all generations ) and "The Twilight Zone." read more
