Even then, he was going to need some help. He got it when leader Brad Keselowski cut a tire on the final lap of Saturday's race, and Martin sailed past him for the victory. It was the fourth win in six Nationwide races at Las Vegas for Martin. "I can't gloat. If Brad hadn't of had a tire problem, he looked like he would win," Martin said. "All I could do is make sure we didn't run out of gas." The race will most likely be remembered, though, for Danica Patrick's history- making run and not the last-lap dramatics. Patrick placed fourth, the best finish for a woman in a national NASCAR race. The previous best was Sara Christian's fifth at Pittsburgh in 1949. "Awesome!" Martin said when told of Patrick's finish. "I am really happy for her. That's fantastic." It was a turnaround for Patrick, who struggled all weekend at Las Vegas and fell a lap down in Saturday's race. But she put herself in position ... _Tribune News Services_ DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Hendrick Motorsports had a rough start to the Daytona 500. Three of the team's four cars, including five-time defending Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, were involved in a 14-car wreck early in the 500-mile race Sunday. Four-time series champ Jeff Gordon, who started on the front row, and veteran Mark Martin also sustained damage in the melee. Get more Daytona 500 updates here. The fourth Hendrick entry, fan favorite Dale Earnhardt Jr., avoided the mess and was running with the leaders. His teammates weren't as fortunate. Gordon's No. 24 Chevrolet was crumpled front and back, forcing the team to the garage area for major repairs. He returned to the race 30 laps down, essentially running for points while extending his winless streak to 66 races. "It doesn't really matter at this point," Gordon said. "Our chances of winning the Daytona 500 are over. That's the disappointing part." Johnson's No. 48 car also needed lengthy repairs. He returned to the track 18 laps down. Martin had fewer issues. His team worked on his No. 5 car on pit road. Still, Martin fell three laps behind the leaders and looked like he would ... _Tribune News Services_ DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Michael Waltrip won at Daytona on the 10-year anniversary of his first victory, the one marred by the death of Dale Earnhardt. Waltrip passed Elliott Sadler in the final hundred yards of the season-opening Trucks Series race Friday night, then celebrated an emotional victory a decade after his car owner died on the last lap of the Daytona 500. Waltrip had tears in his eyes as he talked about what the win meant. He also became the 22nd driver to win races in each of NASCAR's top three series. This one was special. "This day was hard," Waltrip said. "I've been emotional all day long." Sadler, Waltrip, Timothy Peters, Miquel Paludo and Clay Rogers were the only ones who avoided major damage in two wild, multi-truck wrecks late. Sadler and Waltrip pulled away from the field after the green flag dropped on a two-lap sprint to the checkered flag. Waltrip pushed Sadler most of the way, then veered outside coming out of the final turn and edged Sadler by a few feet at the line. "If anybody deserves a win in today's race, it's probably Michael Waltrip," Sadler said. The final pileup ... World Tourism News _Tribune News Services_ SYDNEY -- NASCAR star Tony Stewart has been questioned but not charged by police after an altercation at a Sydney track. New South Wales state police spokesperson Joanne Elliott said Sunday that the 39-year-old Indiana driver, who is in Australia competing in sprint-car races, was released after being interviewed at the Rosehill police station in western Sydney. "Police from Rosehill central command were alerted to an altercation involving two men at a race car track about 7:30 last night," Elliott said. The police spokesperson said there was no reason to expect that he wouldn't be allowed to leave as scheduled. ## Def Jam Rapstar, Nintendo Wii, PS3 & Xbox 360 The SingStar series has made karaoke into a videogame genre standard and turned an entire generation of non-gamers into PlayStation lovers. For those less keen on sugarcoated pop, there's Def Jam Rapstar, a tour of the last 30 years of rap from Public Enemy and Run DMC via 2Pac to Soulja Boy and Twitter- loving Kanye West. Words appear under the video with a bouncing ball to help you time your lyrical assassinations as you are scored both on timing and also the accuracy with which you say the words, rejecting the humming adopted by cheating SingStar players. Graphically, things are resolutely old school and the game's design means you'll have to rap and get good at songs you've never heard before, a process that's every bit as toe-curling as it sounds. It also features an online community area to help you become an actual rap star. _4mm Games, £39.99-£54.999_ ## Gran Turismo 5, PS3 After an excruciating five-year wait, Gran Turismo is back with thousands of cars, familiar tracks, and enough to tinker with to keep you busy for months.
