New York Times: > Over the past few months Tyler and Odd Future have been speeding from the margins of the Internet toward the center of forward-thinking music circles thanks to a barrage of self-released albums, mayhem-inducing live performances and an ability — at this point, it's verging on desire — to instantly polarize listeners. > > Tyler is Odd Future's central rapper and producer and also its main visual artist, merchandise designer and video director. He's the crew figurehead and its raison d'ĂȘtre. On Tuesday he will release "Goblin" (XL), the first album of his on a proper label, and the one that will transform him from curiosity to conversation shaper. Read and comment. From nytimes.com. by BBG Matmos with Kronos Quartet last year The Chiara String Quartet and NOW Ensemble come together Friday, May 6 at (Le) Poisson Rouge for a joint album release concert, celebrating two fresh albums from New Amsterdam Records with some... Thurnis OFGWKTA No word on if they consulted Thurnis before they made their move (he might have been on a golf trip -details below-), but Odd Future have formed their own label (Odd Future Records) and will partner with Sony/RED... Lil Wayne Releasing 'Carter IV' on June 21, Tyler the Creator Posts 'Goblin' Promo, and more. Filed under: Hip-Hop, Hip-Hop News Getty Images Odd Future's ringleader Tyler, the Creator takes on the persona of Thurnis Haley in a new clip promoting his second solo album, 'Goblin.' While the clip is super short, clocking in at 30 seconds, it shows off Tyler's acting skills. "I eat golf, I sleep golf; my wife get mad at me, all I do is play golf," he says in character of the 53-year old golf fanatic, before breaking into a hilarious old man laugh that takes up a third of the video. The clan have been calling themselves Golf Wang -- switching the first two letters of Wolf Gang -- for a hot minute and this video takes it one step further. Odd Future have already spoofed their hype in a Funny or Die clip, and are also rumored to be prepping an 'Adult Swim pilot for the Cartoon Network, but this clip shows Tyler definitely has some raw talent when it comes to acting and improv. Check out the 'Thurnis Haley Golf Wang' promo after the jump. 'Goblin,' the follow-up to 2009's 'Bastard,' hits stores on May 10 via XL. 5:53 … So far, so enjoyable, though more than a few fellow Coachellans have come up to tell me it's been a weird day. No argument here: there haven't been any breakout sets today, for one thing, and a hype or two have already proved instantly forgettable Mostly just solid sounds from stage to stage. [...] Coachella 2011: Cee Lo gets cut off, Odd Future fails to connect is a post from: Soundcheck (UPDATED) The band generally known as Odd Future, Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All or OFWGKTL, has been on the talk lately of hip hop fans, tastemakers and industry insiders for their seemingly no-holds-barred approach to rap music and... photos by Greg Cristman, words by BBG Stephen Flam of Winter @ Union Pool - April 3, 2011 Crushing down-tuned death-doom dealers Winter returned, for the first time since calling it quits in the early nineties, with an hour-long headlining... Odd Future's fearless leader, Tyler, the Creator, has set a May 10 release date for his anticipated sophomore effort, "Goblin." Broadway's stunt-heavy, $65 million "Spider-Man" musical has experienced another technical glitch that left its lead villain dangling in midair, and the troubled production will shut down for more than three weeks this spring for an overhaul. (Xbox 360, PS3, PC, EA, cert: 18) _Dragon Age 2_ frames its story as a tale-within-a-tale – a novel narrative device in gaming. Instead of playing through hero Hawke's entire quest – including all the boring goblin-slaying, getting lost and other general slow- time – you're playing the edited highlights, as told by an associate of Hawke's under duress to a mysterious captor. It's a clever conceit that strips out a lot of the drudgery that can make this type of fantasy role-playing game a chore. It also allows the story to cover a much greater timespan than most – 10 years, to be precise. You follow Hawke and company from bedraggled escapees to world-conquering heroes, but it's not a straightforward rise to glory. There's not even one clearly defined "evil bad guy" – it's more subtle than that. And it's one of many things that _Dragon Age 2_ does to subvert expectations of the genre. Like its predecessor, the game is extremely violent. Blood spatters everywhere as you cut through hordes of demonic spawn, and it stays plastered all over your poor party members for dialogue and cut scenes too. But the combat itself feels more ... 'Spider-Man' opening night gets bumped back to June 14; Green Goblin gets stuck hanging again Broadway's stunt-heavy, $65 million "Spider-Man" musical has experienced another technical glitch that left its lead villain dangling in midair, and the troubled production will shut down for more than three weeks this spring for an overhaul. The Green Goblin has been defeated again during Broadway's 'Spider-Man' musical - by his own flight system. NEW YORK (AP) -- What's a Green Goblin to do when he can't steer himself around a stage? Dangle. For several minutes.... Musical's official opening pushed back for 6th time; Latest preview marred by Green Goblin stunt malfunction
